The Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation continues to investigate a criminal case initiated under Paragraph C of Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code (murder of a minor) in connection with disappearance of a minor girl in Novgorod Oblast. As Chairman of the IC of Russia Alexander Ivanovich Bastrykin instructed, this criminal case has been transferred to investigators of the Central Office. On the department head's instructions, he will soon be informed on the results and further course of the investigation.

The search activities performed by means of special equipment, including unmanned vehicles, made it possible to find the child's body at a land plot located in the family's area of residence. Required forensic tests were scheduled. Earlier, as part of the criminal case investigation, the child's mother and her cohabitee were detained on suspicion of committing a crime. At the investigators' request, they were arrested by the court.

It was also established that the family had been registered with the prevention system bodies; 7 children were previously placed in a social institution due to inadequate living conditions. At the same time, the girl born in 2020 was left in the family, placing her in a specialized institution had not been considered. In connection with this fact, the investigators also initiated a criminal case on negligence (Part 1 of Article 293 of the Criminal Code) on the part of officials working at the Education Committee of the Kholmsky Municipal District Administration.

Currently, all the circumstances of the incident are being clarified. Investigators and forensic specialists of the Central Office of the IC of Russia continue working on the site.
