The Bryanskiy Regional Court recognized the crimes committed in Bryansk Oblast by the Nazi invaders during the Great Patriotic War as genocide of the USSR’s peoples. All relevant materials were presented by the Investigative Committee of Russia, the Prosecutor's Office and the FSB (Federal Security Service) of Russia.

Particularly, the Investigative Committee of Russia in the course of investigation of the genocide during the Great Patriotic War identified the facts of intentional mass destruction of civilian individuals and prisoners of war committed by the Nazi invaders and their accomplices on the occupied territory of Bryanskaya oblast.

Investigation was informed about the mass executions of the Hatsun village inhabitants. In October 1941 alone, complying with the orders of the Nazi command, the Germans killed 318 civilians, including 60 children aged 2 to 10.

It has been also confirmed that during the war years a transit camp "Dulag-142" was established in Bryansk for keeping civilians and prisoners of war. No less than 80 thousand people (40 thousand of which were tortured and buried later) were kept in it. According to the hearing of a witnesses, who ended up in a concentration camp with two sisters and a brother in 1942 at the age of four, they were kept in barracks in inhuman conditions. Because of her young age, she did not work, but her blood was taken regularly. Other witnesses recall that they had to sleep on a cold concrete floor, and between 100 to 500 dead bodies were taken out of the camp daily.

According to available data, during the occupation of the Bryanskaya oblast, the Nazi invaders and their accomplices have exterminated about 278 thousand Soviet citizens and prisoners of war. These facts are verified not only by archival materials, including translated trophy documents, but also by the results of investigative actions, such as interviews of former prisoners of concentration camps and relatives of the victims, inspections of burial sites and studies of complex forensic, molecular genetics and other examinations performed by the experts.

All the collected evidence and established facts are hard testimonies to the crimes which have been part of the Nazi plan to invade and exterminate the civilian population not only living in individual settlements and regions, but the population of the entire Soviet Union.
