Investigators continue to document the after-effects of the shelling in Kievsky raion of Donetsk

Within the criminal proceedings, Investigators of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation perform an inspection of Kievsky raion of Donetsk.

According to investigation, the commanders of the 56th separate motorized infantry brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine ordered their subordinates to shell Kievsky raion of Donetsk with 152 mm artillery weapons. They breached the requirements of the Geneva Convention relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War adopted 08/12/1949 and its Additional Protocol, which ban the use of weapons if this could cause excessive casualties or injury among civilians.

In connection with this incident, a criminal case was launched against servicemen of the 56th separate motorized infantry brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the grounds of a crime prescribed in Part 1, Article 356 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (ill-treatment of the civilian persons, use of banned means and methods of warfare).
