On the first day of summer, our country traditionally celebrates International Children's Day. This holiday is filled with children's smiles and joy, parental love and warmth and is intended to remind us of the importance to ensure the well-being of young citizens of Russia.

In accordance with the provisions of the Basic Law of our country, childhood, along with family and motherhood, is under the protection of the state. Compliance with this constitutional principle is a priority for the work of many government bodies, including officers of the Investigative Committee of Russia. The competence of the department includes prompt and thorough investigation of crimes committed by and against minors. Every investigator of the Investigative Committee of Russia is tasked not only to conduct investigations in strict accordance with the requirements of the law, but also to establish all the causes and conditions that led to a tragedy in which children suffered. An equally important area of the department’s work is dealing with juvenile delinquency. Every instance of a minor violating the Criminal Code is subject to thorough examination as part of procedural checks and investigations conducted by the committee.

In addition to exercising powers in the field of criminal proceedings, representatives of the Investigative Committee take an active part in the education and development of the younger generation in the spirit of patriotism and respect for the historical past of our country.

Thanks to collaboration with colleagues from government and law enforcement agencies, with public organizations and associations, the Investigative Committee is able to achieve positive results in solving issues related to the protection and restoration of minors' rights. The department's employees keep a constant focus on orphans and children without parental care, children with disabilities, as well as minors who have suffered from criminal actions of Ukrainian armed forces. Many children who found themselves in difficult life situations get the opportunity to study in departmental educational organizations, where we strive not only to give them comprehensive education, but also to nurture worthy citizens of our Motherland with an active civic position, while creating all the conditions for learning and harmonious development.

It has become a good tradition for the employees of the Investigative Committee of Russia to help children's specialized centers throughout the country. Our officers not only regularly visit those children, who each time look forward to meeting their older comrades, but also participate in their upbringing and education. In addition, the Investigative Committee honors the memory of young heroes who selflessly gave their lives saving others, and provides support to their families.

It is during childhood when the foundation of one’s personality is laid, and the fundamentals how one perceives the world and one’s purpose in it. Our common duty is to help children choose the right path in life, to honor the traditions of generational continuity and to uphold true family values. Today this is especially important as our country is going through challenging times, and we stand shoulder to shoulder to protect its interests and independence. Young citizens of our country are the wealth and support of Russia in the future!
