Military Investigation Department of the Russian Investigative Committee for Spassk-Dalny garrison has initiated a criminal case over fire and the following explosions of ammunition in a depot of military unit 86792 - the crime under part 1 of article 349 of the Russian Criminal Code (violation of the rules for handling materials of increased hazard entailing by negligence the infliction of grave injury).

It has been preliminarily established that today about 9:40 a.m. Moscow time, a fire started and was followed by the explosions on the store ground for ammunitions which should have been then disposed of. According to preliminary information, one conscript was injured to his hand and another one – contused.

An investigation group is working at the scene. Military investigators will start examination of the place as soon as the fire is put out and sappers finish defusing. At the moment documents regulating rules for ammunition disposal is being withdrawn from the military unit and the witnesses are being questioned. Preliminary investigation is to be continued.
