Investigating bodies of the Far Eastern transport Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee continue investigating a criminal case over wreck of Amurskaya dry cargo vessel in the Sea of Okhots.

Today under the petition of the investigators the court has ruled to place Alexander Shiltsin, CEO of OAO Nikolayevsky-on-Amur Sea Port (OJSC) – owner of Amurskaya dry cargo vessel into custody as a pre-trial restraining measure. Shiltsin is charged with crimes under part 3 of article 263 of the RF Criminal Code (violation of the rules for traffic safety and operation of railway, air, sea, or river transport entailing by negligence the death of two or more persons and committed by a person using his official position) and part 3 of article 294 of the RF Criminal Code (obstruction of the administration of justice and of preliminary investigations committed by a person using his official position).

The court agreed with the reasons brought by investigators, that being at large the accused might escape from the preliminary investigation, threaten the witnesses and by other means prevent the criminal proceedings.

Investigation is to be continued.
