Criminal case started against director of department of Russian Ministry of Agriculture

Investigating bodies of Moscow Main Investigations Directorate have initiated a criminal case against Director of Department for Land Policy, Property Relations and State Property of Russian Ministry of Agriculture Sergey Bondarenko and his accomplice a businessman Lzhamil Abdulgalimov over the signs of a crime under part 3 of article 30, part 4 of article 159 of the Russian federation Criminal Code (attempted swindling on a grand scale).

According to investigators, in July 2012 Bondarenko in connection with his official duties learned that CEO of one of the state enterprises violates the law in his business activity. During numerous personal meetings and telephone conversations Bondarenko’s accomplices convinced the CEO of the necessity to give them 45 million rubles for assistance in extend the term of his office which were to expire in August 2012. In fact neither Bondarenko nor his accomplices had any powers to appoint the CEO, moreover in July 2012 Bondarenko reported violations revealed to Federal Agency for Management of Federal Property with the request to check it. To receive money the accomplices worked out a sophisticated scheme according to which they were going to put the money in individual bank safes and to make warrants on access to them. Abdulgalimov was detain on 5 September 2012 at prospekt of Akademik Sakharov after he had had received from the CEO the keys from an individual bank cell with 5 million rubles and fake 40 million rubles inside. The same day Bondarenko was detained at his office.

At the moment necessary investigating operations are being carried out on the suspects. In the near future investigators are going to charge them and select a pre-trial restraining measure. Investigation is to be continued.
