Internationally wanted Ivan Kolesnikov found guilty of stealing shares of English-Siberian Oil Company

One of Moscow district courts has recognized evidence collected by the Central Investigations Directorate of the RF Investigative Committee as sufficient to convict in absentia internationally wanted Ivan Kolesnikov. He was found guilty of crimes under part 4 of article 159, part 1 of article 303 of the RF Criminal Code (swindling, falsification of evidence in a civil case).

Investigation and court have established that in February-May 2003, Kolesnikov acting as part of an organized group brought to one of courts in the Krasnodar Territory a civil action containing false information and provided falsified written documents to substantiate it. This way deceiving the court, the culprit achieved the ruling which led to accomplices of the crime to have stolen about 20% of shares of OAO Yeniseyneftegaz (OJSC) owned by English-Siberian Oil Company and worth around 116 million rubles.

The measures taken during the investigation have returned the stolen to its rightful owners. Investigation has also revealed other accomplices to the crime. The criminal proceedings against them were severed into a separate lawsuit. They are also internationally wanted.

The court sentenced Kolesnikov to 6.5 years in jail.
