Criminal investigation launched in Dagestan into murder of security officer and explosion in shop

On 8 November 2013, around 11:20 AM, unidentified people drove up to the commercial shop Gastronom 24 at a crossing of Kotrov and Yaragsky Streets in the city of Makhachkala, shot a security officer, threw in an explosive device and fled. The security office died as a result of his wounds. According to preliminary information the explosion in the magazine injured two people and caused considerable damage to the property.

The investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee in the Republic of Dagestan have launched a criminal investigation into signs of crimes under paragraphs “f” and “g” of part 2 of article 105 of the RF Penal Code (murder committed by a group of people in a generally dangerous way), part 3 of article 30, paragraphs “a”, “f” and “g” of part 2 of article 105 (attempted murder of two or more people committed by a group of people in a generally dangerous way), part 2 of article 222 (illegal circulation of weapons by a group of people), part 2 of article 223 (illegal manufacture of explosive devices by a group of people) and part 2 of article 167 (deliberate destruction of another’s property in a generally dangerous way).

At present investigating operations are underway to find all the circumstances of the crime and people involved. The investigation is ongoing.
