In Vologda Region ultimate corruption charges brought against vice-chancellor of State Cherepovets University

The Vologda Region investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have brought ultimate charges against the former Vice-Chancellor of the State Cherepovets University. He is charged with crimes under part 3 of article 290 of the RF Penal Code (receiving a bribe for illegal actions through an intermediary in considerable amount – 2 counts), paragraph “c” of part 5 of article 290 (receiving a bribe for illegal actions through an intermediary on a massive scale).

According to investigators, in 2011 and 2012 the Vice-Chancellor of the University twice received bribes 90 thousand rubles each from CEO of a company in the town of Cherepovets for assisting in concluding contracts on services providing sanatorium vouchers for orphans, who were students with the University and on organization and holding of cultural and sport activity with the students.

On 30 October 2013 the accused received through a mediator a bribe of 160 thousand rubles from the same CEO for ensuring signing by the University of acceptance certificates under the said contracts. The woman was detained red-handed by the law enforcement agents.

At present the investigators are carrying out procedural operations to finish the investigation. In the near future the files of the case are going to be given to the accused and her lawyer for study.
