Men charged with kidnapping arrested in Moscow

Investigating bodies of the Moscow Main Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee is investigating a criminal case over abduction of a 20-year-old Moscow resident containing signs of a crime under paragraphs “a” and “h” of part 2 of article 126 of the RF Criminal Code (abduction).

According to investigators, unknown persons agreed to commit a crime – to abduct a 20-year-old man and get a ransom. The culprits chose a victim knowing that his father owned a restaurant and a shipping company. On 18 April 2013 the attacked the young man near a house in Novokosinskaya Street in Moscow, stuffed him into a jeep and drove in unknown direction. Later the kidnappers demanded from the victim’s father 700 thousand US dollars of ransom.

Investigators have organized investigation of this case on a highly professional level. Investigating and search operations were carried out very carefully in close cooperation with operative services. As a result whereabouts of the victim were found and he was released on 25 April. During the special operation the four kidnappers offered armed resistance and one of them was shot in stomach and later died. Other three perpetrators were detained.

The suspects have already been charged and arrested. Criminal investigation is ongoing.
