In Republic of Dagestan military man charged with murder of Interior Minister of Dagestan Adilgerey Magomedtagirov to stand trial

North Caucasian Federal District Main Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee has completed investigating a criminal case against Andrey Rezanov, a military man of the RF Defense Ministry. He is charged with the murder of Dagestani Interior Minister Adilgerey Magomedtagirov and the person who were accompanying him, deliberate damaging other’s property, stealing and illegal handling of firearms and ammunition (paragraphs “a” and “c” of part 3 of article 226, parts 1 and 3 of article 222, paragraphs “a”, “f”, “g” and “h” of part 2 of article 105, part 3 of article 30, paragraphs “a”, “f”, “g” and “h” of part 2 of article 105, part 2 of article 167 of the RF Criminal Code).

According to investigators, Rezanov was hired for 1.5 million rubles by members of an organized criminal group under the leadership of Ibragim Gadzhidadayev to kill Dagestani Interior Minister Adilgerey Magomedtagirov. For that, on 29 may 2009, Rezanov, who was assistant chief of service of rocket and artillery arms of military unit 22179 based in the village of Botlikh, Republic of Dagestan, acting under a preliminary conspiracy with a military man of the same unit a warrant office Yuri Dolgikh stole from one of the depots of the unit a special sub-machine gun for silent shooting AS VAL. On 5 June 2009, the defendant using the stolen gun killed Magomedtagirov and people who were accompanying him in the city of Makhachkala. After the murder the gun was secretly returned to its place in the depot. In addition, on 6 February 2010, Rezanov bought from warrant officer Dolgikh ammunition – 22 special cartridges for silent shooting SP-4 of 7.62 mm caliber, which he  carried illegally and then used to his own ends. Dolgikh had stolen the cartridges on the Rezanov’s request from the depot he was in charge of.

Investigators have collected enough evidence, therefore, the case with the approved indictment has been sent to court to be tried on the merits.

Earlier the court sentenced Dolgikh to 6.5 years in a high-security prison. The separate criminal investigation is underway against unknown persons.
