Investigation against residents of boarding school suspected of torturing children goes on in Amur Region

Amur Region investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee continue investigating a criminal case against two female residents of boarding school No 5 in the village of Pionersky, Mazanovsky district. They are suspected of a crime under article 117 of the RF Criminal Code (torture).

According to investigators, in the period between January and May 2013, two female residents of a boarding school for orphans and children, left without parental care born in 1995 and 1996 systematically inflicted bodily harm to the residents aged 7-10. One more girl involved in physical violence did not reached the age of criminal responsibility - she is 15. In addition, investigators are ascertaining whether the fourth girl was involved in the crime filming the tortures and posting videos in one of social networks.

Investigators have involved experienced psychologists to question the suspects.

The director and three teachers of the boarding school No 5 were dismissed.

Investigators petitioned the court to place the suspects at temporary center for underage for 30 days.

In addition, investigators are conducting a procedural check into proper discharge of duties by the officials of the boarding school No 5, a procedural decision will be made based on the results of the check.

At present residents and teachers of the boarding school are being questioned and other investigating operations to find the circumstances of the crime are underway. Investigation is ongoing.
