Investigators in Krasnodar Territory carry out considerable work over two days to find all circumstances of murder of priest

The investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee in Krasnodar Territory continue investigating a criminal case launched into murder of priest Nikolai Medentsev, whose dead body was found in the morning of 19 October 2013 in a trunk. In addition, his house was set afire by an unidentified individual.

Over two days the investigators have carried out a considerable number of investigating and search operations. According to the medical forensic expert examination the priest died of strangulation. The investigators have questioned 55 witnesses and several of them have recognized suspect Yuri Skripalyov. 10 forensic expert examinations have been fixed. During the questioning Skripalyov told about the circumstances of the crime and confirmed it at the crime scene. The suspect has been placed in custody. According to more accurate information Skripalyov is an ex-husband of the priest’s niece and had a dispute over the property with her.

At present necessary investigating operations are underway to find all the circumstances of the crime. Charges against Skripalyov are being discussed. The investigation is ongoing.
