Alexey Kabanov charged with murdering his wife to face trial

The investigating bodies of the Moscow Main Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have finished investigating a criminal case against Alexey Kabanov. He is charged with the crime under part 1 of article 105 of the RF Penal Code (murder).

According to investigators, at night of 3 January 2013, Alexey Kabanov and his wife Irina were home and drank some alcohol. Then they had a fight, during which Kabanov attacked his wife, knocked her to the floor and started strangling her with a wire and hands. To make the woman stop resisting he hit her about nine times in chest and stomach. As a result of her injuries and massive bleeding the woman died on the spot.

To hide the crime Kabanov carried the body in the bathroom, cut it in pieces and packed. Later trying to imitate his wife’s disappearance, he reported her missing. To make it look more convincing he stuck to this version in social networks and media. He threw some parts of his wife’s body in a dustbin near his house and others carried and hid in the trunk of a Skoda car. These parts were found by the investigator during a search on 11 January 2013.

The investigators have gathered enough evidence and the criminal case with the approved indictment has been sent to the court to be tried on the merits.
