The Belgorod Region investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have finished investigating a criminal case against resident of the town of Shebekino Alexander Gridin, 27, and his fellow-townsman Alexander Zubkov, 30. Depending on the role, they are charged with crimes under part 2 of article 167 of the RF Penal Code, paragraph “c” of part 4 of article 162, paragraph “j” of part 2 of article 105, paragraph “c” of part 2 of article 158, part 2 of article 325 (deliberate destruction of another’s property, robbery, murder, theft, stealing passport from a citizen).

According to investigators, in December 2013, Gridin was released from prison, where he had served for a crime against property. He had no money to live on, so he asked for it to a lonely elderly man, veteran of the Great Patriotic War, aged 86 living next door. On 11 January 2014, Gridin and Zubkov were drinking alcohol together and decided to kill and rob the veteran. At midnight on 12 January 2014, they came into his house, first beat up the elderly man and them Gridin stabbed him 4 times in his heck with a kitchen knife. They made sure that the elderly man was dead and took from his house 20 thousand rubles. They set the house of fire and fled, but were caught two days later. Before the killing, Gridin had stolen some valuables and a passport from an acquaintance of his in Krasnogvardeysk District of the region.

The investigators have gathered enough evidence, therefore, the criminal case with the approved indictment has been sent to court to be tried on the merits.
