In Pskov Region criminal case launched in death of child after dog bites

The Pskov Region investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have launched a criminal investigation into the death of a child after he was bitten by a dog containing signs of a crime under part 1 of article 109 of the RF Penal Code (reckless homicide).

According to initial information, on 22 May a 3-year-old boy was visiting his grandparents in a village in Ostrov District. In the evening when his father was busy and his visually impaired mother was in the house, the unattended boy came up to a dog on leash.

At that moment the dog attacked the child and tore at his head and neck. The boy died on the spot before the ambulance arrived.

At present investigating operations are underway to find out all the circumstances of the crime. The investigation is ongoing.
