In Khabarovsk Territory new circumstances discovered during procedural check into light plane crash killing two

The investigating bodies of the Far Eastern Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee are carrying out procedural check into the crash of Aeroprakt-22 light plane in the Khabarovsk Territory.

Initial check has revealed that the Aeroprakt-22 took off from Kalinka airfield located in Khabarovsk Territory on 2 June 2014 in the evening. On 3 June 2014, in the morning it became known that the plane crashed. The exact time of the crash is being established.

By the present time investigators have finished examining the crash scene and the bodies. The investigating team found the plane in an open area in the forest belt behind the Tunguska river in Amur District of the Khabarovsk Territory. It was crashed and had damages to the cockpit. The two-seat plane had carried two men born in 1958 and 1980, both were from Khabarovsk. Both of them were buckled up at the moment of the crash. At the moment it is not known which of the two men piloted the plane, as the steering mechanism allowed dual steering.

The aim of the flight and its direction are being checked. According to initial data no flight permit had been issued either by the Far Eastern Sports Federation or by the interregional office of the federal air transport agency for organization of air traffic.

Navigation devices, a dashcam, fuel samples and documents have been taken from the crash scene for further analysis. Forensic medical expert examination of the bodies is underway to find cause of death.

According to a preliminary version the reason for the crash may have been technical failure of the plane.
