In Sverdlovsk Region criminal investigation launched into attacks of stray dogs on small children and negligence reported by media

On 2 June 2014, a TV channel aired a story that in late May 2014, a pack of stray dogs attacked a 10-year-boy tearing on his feet and an 8-year-old girl near a musical school in Denisov-Uralsky Street. Moreover, it was noted that stray dogs had been ailing citizens for quite a long time and that no proper measures were taken by the authorized organizations to provide security of the citizens.

To find out all the circumstances of the incident in the most careful way, the investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee for the Sverdlovsk Region have opened a criminal case over a crime under part 1 of article 293 of the RF Penal Code (negligence).

The investigators are taking exhaustive measures to consolidate the evidence.

It should be noted that during the probe investigators are going to make procedural decisions concerning not only bodily harm caused to children, but give tough legal assessment to the actions (omission) of certain officials, who failed to take measures to prevent those incidents. The investigation is ongoing.
