In Moscow Magomed and khalimat Rasulov found guilty of attempt on and use of forces against law enforcement official

A court has recognized the evidence gathered by the Moscow Main Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee sufficient to convict Magomed and Khalimat Rasulov. They were found guilty of crimes under article 317 of the RF Penal Code (encroachment on the life of a law enforcement official) and part 1 of article 318 (use of force against a representative of the authority).

The court and investigators found that on 27 July 2013, at Matveyevsky market place Magomed and Khalimat Rasulov fought back the police officers and badly wounded operative agent Andrey Kudryashov, who were trying to detain their relative Magomed Magomedov on suspicion of raping an underage girl. Rasulov hit the officer on his head at least 6 times inflicting grievous bodily harm. After the attack the Rasulovs tried to get away, but were caught by the police. Rasulov was detained while trying to leave Moscow in a coach bound to Dagestan. Now the spouses are going to get firsthand knowledge that such crimes do not remain unpunished and this will serve a good lesson for all those, wanting to hurt law enforcement officials. We remind that they pleaded not guilty. Moreover, they tried to resist the investigation by dragging out the reading of files and refusing to sign procedural papers, but all those attempts had absolutely no effect on the work of the investigators. In addition, there is this scandalous video shot by some eyewitnesses and outraging wide public, which was the main evidence during the trial. Many questionings of witnesses and results of expert examinations allowed restoring the picture of the crime in every detail.

The court has sentenced Magomed Rasulov to 18 years to be served in a maximum-security penal colony, Khalimat Rasulova – to 12.5 years to be served in a minimum-security penal colony.

Earlier traffic police officers for Ochakovo-Matveyevo district of Moscow Vladimir Cherezov and Yuri Lunkov were found guilty of a crime under part 2 of article 293 of the RF Penal Code (negligence) due to inaction while the Rasulovs were beating up Kudryashov. Magomed Magomedov was found guilty of raping an underage girl.
