Competent bodies of France passed Russian Investigative Committee evidence in case against Sergey Zirinov and his accomplices

The Main Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee continue investigating a criminal case against leaders and members of a stable armed group (band) led by deputy of the Krasnodar Territory Legislative Assembly Sergey Zirinov. Depending on the role of each one, six defendants are charged with crimes under paragraphs “a”, “f”, “g”, ”h”, ”j” of part 2 of article 105 of the RF Penal Code , part 3 of article 30, paragraphs “a”, “f”, “g”, ”h”, ”j” of part 2 of article 105, parts 1 and 2 of article 209, article 222 (murder and aggravated attempted murder, banditry, illegal circulation of firearms).

According to investigators, the members of the gang out of mercenary motives killed director of sanatorium “Small Bay” Vitaly Sadovnichy and his wife Olga Ivankina, as well as businessman Salman Nabiyev. In addition, the investigators believe that they were involved in the attempted murder of deputy ataman of Anapa City Cossack Society Nikolai Nesterenko committed in a generally dangerous way, during which Nesterenko’s driver was killed.

During the probe the investigators got information that there is material evidence of the gang’s criminal activity in France. Therefore, an investigator of the Main Investigations Directorate sent a request of legal assistance. On 30 July 2014, in respond to the request French competent bodies passed the Investigative Committee the evidence, including firearms and ammunition proving the built of the gang leaders and members. The investigators are going to assign necessary examinations of all the objects passed.

At present the investigation is ongoing. Two of the gang members concluded pretrial cooperation deals and have already been convicted. Two more are internationally wanted.
