A court has found the evidence gathered by the investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee for the Novosibirsk Region sufficient to convict former head of Operation Department of the Siberian office of the Russian Academy of Sciences Viktor Borisov. He was found guilty of a crime under part 6 of article 290 of the RF Penal Code (taking a bribe on a very large scale).

The court and investigators have found that in 2013, the Siberian office of the Russian Academy of Sciences and a construction company concluded a state contract on capital repairs of the building of Siberian office worth 5 million 900 thousand rubles. After the work had been done, the director asked the head of Operation Department to sign the acceptance certificates ahead of the stipulated date, which the latter agreed to do for 1 million rubles. Borisov was detained by the police after he had received an agreed part of a bribe of 400 thousand rubles.

The court has sentenced Borisov to 8.5 years to be served in a maximum-security penal colony and a fire of 80.5 million rubles.
