Ex-Minister of Healthcare of Chelyabinsk Region found guilty of taking bribes

A court has recognized the evidence gathered by the Main Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee in Yekaterinburg sufficient to convict former Minister of Healthcare for the Chelyabinsk Region Vitaly Teslenko. He was found guilty of three counts of a crime under part 6 of article 290 of the RF Penal Code (taking a bribe on a very large scale).

The court and investigators have found that in the period between March and October 2012, Teslenko regularly took bribes on a very large scale for assisting representatives of commercial organizations in concluding state contracts on supply of high-tech medical equipment under the modernization program in the Chelyabinsk Region for 2011-2012. In all, over the said period the accused got over 69 million rubles in bribes.

The court has sentenced Teslenko to 7 years in prison to be served in a maximum-security penal colony and a fine of 300 million rubles.

A criminal case against one of the Teslenko’s accomplices is being heard by the court.
