In Novosibirsk members of Trunov’s organized criminal group to stand trial

The Main Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee has finished investigating three criminal cases in the city of Novosibirsk against members of an organized criminal group: Oleg Ostanin, Rinat Ganeyev and Khasan Ganeyev. Depending on the role of each one they are charged with crimes under articles 209, 210, 105, 111 and 159 of the RF Penal Code (banditry, membership on a criminal group, murder, infliction of grievous bodily harm and fraud).

According to investigators, in the period between 1997 and 2009, the accused being members of a criminal group led by Alexander Trunov committed a murder and an attempted murder of businessmen in the city of Novosibirsk. In addition, the accused were exposed of a number of frauds connected with both illegal alienation of firms and shares. It should be noted that the crimes committed by the members of the so called Trunov’s criminal group were carefully planned, were committed using firearms: submachine guns and pistols of different models. The members of the gang had modern technical devices – walkie-talkies, listening devices and others. The activity of the gang and all of its divisions was carefully covered, which prevented law enforcement officers from breaking it for a long time.

The investigators have gathered enough evidence, so the criminal cases with the approved indictment have been sent to court to be tried on the merits.

It should be noted that the accused Ostanin and the Ganeev brothers concluded pretrial cooperation deals. The leader of the gang Alexander Trunov and seven of its members have been sentenced to long terms in prison based on a damning verdict delivered by the jury.
