In Chelyabinsk Region local man gets life sentence for killing two women

A court has recognized the evidence gathered by the Chelyabinsk Region investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee sufficient to convict 30-year-old Vitaly Zaborov, who was found guilty of crimes under part 3 of article 30, part 1 of article 131, part 3 of article 30, part 1 of article 131 of the RF Penal Code (two counts of an attempted rape), paragraphs “a” and “j” of part 2 of article 105 (murder of two or more people committed to conceal another rape-related crime), part 1 of article 158 (theft), part 3 of article 30, paragraphs “a”, “c” and “j” of part 2 of article 105 (attempted murder of a minor committed to conceal another crime), part 2 of article 162 (robbery).

The court and investigators have found out that on 16 August 2013, in the town of Zlatoust, Zaborov attempted to rape a woman. Then he hit her on the head and the woman died at the scene as the result of brain trauma. The man ran away from the crime scene with the woman’s mobile phone. On 3 September 2013, he attacked another woman, while she was on a walk with her 9-month-old son. He tried to rape her, but failed and killed her. He threw the woman’s body and her son in a ravine. The child was saved. On 6 September 2013, the man robbed a woman in Zlatoust.

The court has given Zaborov a life sentence to be served in a special-security penal colony.
