Investigators asking court to arrest third participant of attack on police officer in Ulyanovsk

Ulyanovsk Region investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee continue investigating a criminal case opened over grievous bodily harm caused to a police officer.

According to investigators, on 30 December 2014, three local residents Eduard Zinnurov, Rustam Yakhiyev and Kamil Aleyev during a conflict they had in the yard of a house in Robespierre street in Lenin district in the town of Ulyanovsk used a non-fatal trauma gun to cause serious wound to a 27-year-old police officer, which is considered as grievous bodily harm. All the attackers were charged with a crime under paragraph “a” of part 3 of article 111 of the RF Penal Code (deliberate cause of grievous bodily harm by a group of people). Two of them Zinnyrov and Aleyev are held in custody. The arrest of Yakhiyev was postponed because he was in hospital.

At present Yakhiyev has been discharged from the hospital and an investigator filed with a court a request to remand him in custody pending trial. The investigation is ongoing.
