On 10 January 2015, in the evening local residents found a baby of approximately 3 months of age on the second floor in an apartment building in Lenin avenue in the town of Obninsk, Kaluga Region. Kaluga Region investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have launched a criminal investigation in a crime under article 125 of the RF Penal Code (abandoning in danger).

During the examination of the scene investigators have found that the baby was lying in a cardboard box, was wearing a snow suit. There was a plastic bag near the box containing a bottle of baby food, pacifier and some diapers. The investigators are trying to identify the baby’s parents.

At present a number of investigative operations are underway to identify the baby’s parents, baby’s description and photos have been sent to neighboring regions of Russia, volunteers are involved in search operations. The investigators are carrying out operations to find out all the circumstances of what happened.
