In Tatarstan charges pressed against woman who abandoned her child in danger

Tatarstan investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have charged 26-year-old Natalya Manzhola with crimes under article 125 (abandoning in danger) and 156 of the RF Penal Code (failure to fulfill duty of raising an underage child).

Today a court has ruled to place the accused in custody pending trial.

On 3 January 2015, Manzhola left her 2-year-old son in an entrance hall of a block of flats in the city of Kazan. On 14 January 2015, Manzhola was detained in Kazan. During an interrogation the woman confessed to the crime explaining that she had left her son because of hard life she had. Investigators started a procedure to strip her of custody.

At present investigative operations are underway to gather and consolidate the evidence. The investigation is ongoing.
