Fifth children and youth hockey championship for Investigative Committee Cup dedicated to 70th anniversary of Great Victory starts in Saint-Petersburg

An opening ceremony of the hockey championship for Investigative Committee Cup among 10-year-old children was held on 23 March 2015.

This year the traditional championship organized by the Russia’s Investigative Committee and administration of Kolpino district, Saint-Petersburg and aimed at involvement of children and youths in sports and prevention of crimes among underage is dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

The ceremony began with laying wreaths and flowers to the Alley of Heroes memorial complex by athletes and guests of honor among whom were representatives of the Investigative Committee Central Office and Saint-Petersburg Directorate, city and Kolpino district administration. After that they went to Nikolai Drozdetsky hockey club.

Before the championship there was an unofficial match between the teams of Saint-Petersburg and Investigative Committee hockey veterans, during which senior officials, staff and inmates of the special professional closed school of Kolpino hit the ice for the first time. The match was a draw.

8 teams from different regions of Russia will fight for being the best. The championship will last three days and will finish with the awarding ceremony, where the winners will get the Investigative Committee Cup.
