In Bashkortostan woman from Sterlitamak detained on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm to her small daughter

During the probe in grievous bodily harm caused to an 18-month-old girl in the town of Sterlitamak, the investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee for Bashkortostan have detained the 30-year-old mother of the girl to check if she was involved in the crime.

On 27 November 2014, one of local websites published a report that a girl with signs of battery was in hospital in coma. The report was detected by investigators during the monitoring of the internet. Following a pre-investigating check they opened an investigation in a crime under part 1 of article 111 of the RF Penal Code (deliberate infliction of grievous bodily harm).

A lot of versions have been offered during the probe: starting from accidental injuries and ending by intentional infliction of injuries by someone of the adults. The investigators have questioned 190 people. At present investigative and search operations are underway to find out all the circumstances of the crime. First the suspect will be questioned and then a restrain measure will be chosen for her. The investigation is ongoing.
