Final charges brought against Nadezhda Savchenko

The Department for investigations connected with use of forbidden means and methods of warfare, Investigative Committee have charged Ukrainian citizen Nadezhda Savcheko with crimes under part 5 of article 33, paragraphs “a”, “f”, “g” and “k” of part 2 of article 105, part 5 of article 33, part 3 of article 30, paragraphs “a”, “f”, “g” and “k” of part 2 of article 105,, part 1 of article 322 of the RF Penal Code (complicity in murder of two or more people, complicity in attempted murder of two or more people in a generally dangerous way motivated by political hatred committed by a group of people, illegal crossing of the Russian border).

According to investigators during military actions near Luhansk in June 2014, Savchenko learned coordinates of a group of Russian BGTRK journalists and other civilians stayin near Luhansk and passed them to the Ukrainian armed units. After that the coordinates were shelled killing Igor Kornelyuk and Anton Voloshin of VGTRK. Other civilians also could have been wounded. After that Savchenko crossed the Russian border without documents and disguised as a refugee. She was detained for identification during a check in one of towns.

The investigators have irrefutable evidence – records made by Savchenko confirming that she was involved in the correction of fire, the results of a ballistics expert examination of shell fragmets pulled out from the bodies and pictures and footage of the place where the journalists were killed, and the shelling and data got from satellites. All the evidence has been produced by the investigators for a situation forensic examination. It was just a part of the evidence which are going to be produced before court.

In the near future the case against Savchenko will be severed in a separate proceeding from a general case over use of forbidden means and methods of warfare to be finished and them to be passed to the parties for reading and will further be sent to court.
