Alexander Bastrykin hears report on probe against Oleg Belov charged with atrocious murder and holds reception of citizens in Nizhny Novgorod

Chairman of the Russia’s Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin has held a briefing today in the city of Nizhny Novgorod to hear reports on the progress of investigations against Oleg Belov accused of killing his family and against police officers whose negligence made it possible for him to commit the crime. At the end of the meeting Mr. Bastrykin gave explicit instruction as to the direction of the investigation.

After that the Chairman held a reception of citizens. In all, over 60 citizens from different areas of Nizhny Novgorod Region had made an appointment. Together with Mr. Bastrykin the citizens were accepted by Vice-Chairman of the Investigative Committee Ilya Lazutov and Head of the 3rd Investigations Department of the Main Investigations Directorate Denis Kolesnikov. The Chairman personally talked to about 10 citizens.

The most of complaints addressed to Mr. Bastrykin concerned procedural decisions made over criminal cases investigated and checks carried out by investigating bodies in Nizhny Novgorod.
