Probe launched against parents suspected of reckless homicide of their child in Primorye Territory

The Primorye Territory investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have opened a criminal investigation against two residents of Chuguyevka District. Depending on the role of each of them, they are suspected of a crime under part 1 of article 109 of the RF Penal Code (reckless homicide), article 125 (endangerment).

According to investigators, the father failed to ensure that his non-fatal rifle was safely kept, and on 1 September 2015, his 7-year-old son went into the garage, where the rifle was kept, and shot his 5-year-old brother. The boy was wounded in stomach. The parents did not go to hospital for qualified medical aid, but decided to handle the wound themselves. Basically they endangered their child and deprived him of opportunity to save himself. The boy died on 3 September.

There is an ongoing investigation, a forensic medical inquiry has been assigned and witnesses are being questioned.

Operative support is provided by Primorye Territory Office of the Russian Ministry of the Interior.
