Charges reclassified after deputy head doctor dies in Saint-Petersburg

The Saint-Petersburg investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee continue investigating a criminal case against Yuri Lebedev, 34, suspected of attacking the deputy head doctor of surgery at a hospital in Saint-Petersburg. After the death to the victim, the charges have been changed to the more serious ones (part 1 of article 105 of the RF Penal Code - murder).

According to investigators, in the afternoon of 7 September 2015, Lebedev shot at the doctor at a hospital on Mechnikov street and then shot himself. The doctor was taken to the hospital, but died later of the wounds.

The presumed motive for the murder was the man’s discontent with several plastic surgeries performed in the said hospital.

At present the investigators are identifying and questioning witnesses, assigning necessary inquiries, have seized footage from the crime scene, searched the shooter’s house, are carrying out other operations to find out what exactly happened.
