Probe launched against Director of museum reserve Kizhi suspected of grand bribery in Karelia

The Karelia investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee has opened an investigation against director of the State History, Architecture and Ethnography Museum and Reserve Kizhi Andrey Nelidov, suspected of a crime under paragraph “c” of part 5 of article 190 of the RF Penal Code (bribery on a very large scale).

According to investigators, on 23 September 2015, the suspect received via a middleman 500 thousand rubles worth bribe from a businessman for the right to run sales business in Kizhi.

The crime was soled thanks to well-organized investigative and search operations carried out together with investigators of the Karelia’s Investigations Directorate and officials of the Economic Security and Anti-Corruption Department of the Karelian Ministry of the Interior.

At present, the suspect is detained, investigative operations are underway to find out all the circumstances of the crime. The investigation is ongoing.
