Deputy of Ulyanovsk Region Legislative Assembly charged with evading over 2 billion rubles worth tax

The Ulyanovsk Region investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have charged deputy of the Ulyanovsk Region Legislative Assembly – CEO of Tryokhsosensky Factory Mikhail Rodionov with a crime under paragraph “b” of part 2 of article 199 of the RF Penal Code (evasion of taxes on a very large scale).

According to investigators, in 2013, the suspect evaded paying excise duties for the products produced and sold by his factory. He used a criminal scheme of lowering the amount of actually sold alcohol production and because of that the federal budget did not get over two billion rubles.

Due to the fact that Rodionov has repeatedly ignored subpoenas, the investigator has given an order to bring him in by force, which was executed on 7 October 2015 by the police. When charged and interviewed the deputy did not admit his guilt and refused to testify in accordance with  article 51 of the Russian Constitution.

The investigator continues investigative operations to compensate for the damage made to the state. Earlier following the request of the investigator, a court arrested Rodionov’s bank accounts with over 150 million rubles on them, 18 expensive cars and two yachts worth over 15 million rubles. The investigation is ongoing.
