Probe launched in death of child in elevator collapse in Moscow

On 19 December 2015, a family with a baby in a pram was entering an elevator in a block of flats in Ostovityanov street in Moscow. At that moment the elevator’s cable broke and the elevator went down clutching the pram between the doors. The baby died of the injuries. The Moscow Main Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee has opened an investigation in a crime under part 2 of article 238 of the RF Penal Code (unsafe works).

At present the facility managing and operating companies in charge of the elevator operation are being searched and technical documents are being confiscated. Investigators are also working at the scene, carrying out necessary investigative operations to find out all the details of the incident. The Investigation is ongoing.
