Probe launched in Vladimir Region following death of teenager of gunshot wound

The Vladimir Region investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have opened a criminal investigation in a crime under part 1 of article 109 of the RF Penal Code (reckless homicide) following the death of a 14-year-old resident of the town of Strunino.

According to investigators, two families from the town of Strunino with peer sons have had friendly relationships for a long time. A few years ago one of the families moved to Moscow Region, but still stayed friends with the other family. On 18 December 2015, the family with their son arrived at their native town for the weekend. Next afternoon the 40-year-old man offered his son and the neighbors’ son to go out to the woods and shoot from a carbine with a telescopic sight. Three of them took the gun, a range finder, a tripod, targets and went to the woods. After shooting, the man was negligent and failed to make sure that there were no cartridges in the gun, and gave it to the 14-year-old boy. He and his son went to the targets. At that moment they heard a shot behind them and saw the teenager fall on the ground with a gunshot wound to his head. Explaining the incident to an investigator the involved pointed out that the victim was most probably sure that the gun was not loaded.

Investigator and a criminalist of the investigations directorate have examined the scene carefully and confiscated necessary objects and samples to be processed for the evidence, to consolidate the evidence and find what really happened there. The investigation is ongoing.
