A court has recognized the evidence collected by the Moscow Region authorities of the Investigative Committee sufficient to convict former deputy minister of physical culture, sports and youth of Moscow Region Sergey Malin. He was found guilty of a crime under Part 4 of Article 159 of the RF Penal Code (fraud on a very large scale).

The court and investigation have revealed that in April 2014, Malin, the deputy minister of physical culture, sports and youth of Moscow Region at the time, stole more than 38 million rubles allocated as subsidies to the Moscow Region Volleyball Center. He used a scam, misled the administration of the volleyball center and ordered that the money was transferred to the accounts of sham-firms and then cashed. Malin admitted his guilt.

The court has sentenced Malin to 2 years to be served in a minimum-security penal colony.
