The court has recognized the evidence collected by the Main Investigations Directorate of the Russia's Investigative Committee sufficient to convict former deputy governor of Novgorod Region Viktor Nechaev and his associates Uliana Zhuravskaya and Sergey Alexandrov. Depending on their roles, they were found guilty of committing crimes under part 4 of article 159 of the RF Penal Code (fraud committed on a very large scale) and part 3 of article 30, part 4 of article 159 of the RF Penal Code (attempted fraud on a very large scale).
The investigation and court established, that in the period from July 30 2013 to August 10, 2013 Nechaev and Alexandrov had misinformed a citizen of Moscow on their alleged ability to facilitate releasing her husband of custody and ending criminal proceedings against him, who had already been brought to criminal responsibility. They deceived the woman and received 6.5 million rubles from her.
Moreover, since July to August 2015 Nechaev jointly with Zhuravskaya have misled a citizen, who had already been brought to criminal responsibility. They misinformed his attorneys on their alleged ability to facilitate the end of criminal proceedings against him. In a preliminary conspiracy with Zhuravskaya, on August 10, 2015 Nechaev received 47 thousand US dollars for this service. However, the accomplices could not to use money for their needs, as they were arrested by officers of the Russian Federal Security Service. During arrest Nechaev made an attempt to escape from Federal Security Service operatives by car and damaged their service automobile.
At the same time, Nechaev and his accomplices had no intention to influence preliminary investigation process, but wanted only to appropriate the money.
During preliminary investigation due to seriousness of collected evidence the accused admitted their guilt. Also Nechaev recompensated 6.5 million rubles stolen from the woman.
The court sentenced Nechaev to 3.5 in prison, Zhuravskaya and Alexandrov - to suspended sentence of 3 years in prison.
