Investigators taking measures to identify and detain those involved in killing school girl in Volgograd Region

The Volgograd Region Office of the Investigative Committee continues the investigation into a crime under Part 1 of Article 105 of the RF Penal Code, after the murder of a 15-year-old girl.

As became known earlier, on the evening of 2 October 2016, a resident of the city of Volgograd reported her teenage daughter missing. The local investigative authority launched a check at once, and soon it became clear that the girl had not run away, because she and her family were characterized positively and had never been registered in social services. The most experienced investigators and criminalists of the regional office of the Investigative Committee, as well as police operatives started the search. A few hours later they found the girl’s dead body in a refuse bin between apartment buildings in Brestskaya Street.

The investigators are looking into her last day and have already restored the timeline minute by minute. The day before, the girl and her friends went to a hobby group. The session ended in the afternoon and the girls went as far as their courtyard and then each of them went home. The girl went missing in broad daylight and few hours later her body was found 2 blocks down from the place she was last seen alive.

By now the investigators have finished examining the crime scene, where they found, confiscated and are now processing some materials relevant for the probe, including footage from surveillance cameras located along the route the teenagers took that day. About 20 people have been questioned, including the victim’s relatives and friends. A number of forensic inquiries, including a DNA, dactylographic, psychological and medical ones, have been assigned to find out what exactly happened with the girl. Experts suggest that the girl was raped and then most likely strangled. However, they will be able to make their final conclusions after they have gotten the results of the inquiries.

Solving crimes committed against minors is one of priorities for the Investigative Committee and is always under special control. At present the investigators and operatives are doing their best to solve the girl’s murder and identify those involved.
