The Novosibirsk Region Office of the Investigative Committee has initiated criminal proceedings against two 16-year-old teenagers suspected of a crime under Part of Article 30, Part 2, items “a” and “h” of Article 105 and Part 4, item “c” of Article 162 of the RF Penal Code (attempted murder of two or more people related to robbery).

According to investigators, on 31 October 2016, about 1 PM, 16-year-old girl and boy broke into a flat in a residential building in Zabaluyev Street in Leninsky District of the city of Novosibirsk. Out of mercenary motives and personal hostile attitude, they decided to get hold of money and property of the family living in that flat. On the threshold the two perpetrators were met by an 80-year-old woman whom the boy hit many times with a wooden bat and stabbed, while his friend stabbed the woman’s 11-year-old grandson and locked him up in a room. A short time later the 41-year-old owner of the flat returned and was met by the robber who hacked her several times with an ax on the head and torso. Neighbors heard screams and stopped the perpetrators. The neighbors held the girl and gave her over to police, while the boy fled. All the wounded were taken to a hospital.

Investigators and criminalists of the regional investigative authority as well as police operatives arrived at the scene immediately. They located and held the 16-year-old suspect in the shortest time possible.

The investigators have carried out necessary initial investigative operations and taken samples for forensic inquiries. Forensic experts are already running the inquiries. Investigative and search operations are underway to collect evidence. The investigators are looking into reasons and circumstances that contributed to the crime. They are going to request a court to take the two teenagers in custody pending trial.
