Sentence passed over murder of former CEO of OAO Saratovstoisteklo in France

A court has recognized the evidence gathered by the Head Office of the Investigative Committee sufficient to convict Sultan Sigauri found guilty of complicity in a murder under Part 5 of Article 33, Part 2, items “g” and “h” of Article 105 of the RF Penal Code.

The court and investigators have revealed that in 2009-2010, Akhmad Khamidov fraudulently stole from Mikhail Lanin 84 million rubles. When Laning had demanded to give him back his money, Khamidov decided to kill him while he was in France. To do that, he set up an organized criminal group and using the help of Sultan Sigauri involved in it Vlaid Lurakhmayev. The latter found Ruslan Bersanov in France who acted as a perpetrator. In February 2011, Khamidov under a false pretext asked Lanin to come to Paris saying that he will be met at the airport. Ruslan Bersanov went to the airport to do that along with Yazid Arsaliyev as a driver. Having met Mikhail Lanin and an acquaintance of his Yelena Pravoslavnova, the accomplices took them to the town of Villepinte where Bersanov killed the businessman and attempted to kill his companion.

During the probe the Russian investigators went to France on several occasions to have French investigators start necessary investigative operations. Their results helped to restore the picture of the crime and all the circumstances surrounding it. French officers also paid Russia a working visit during which with the assistance of Russian investigators they got the information necessary to prosecute Bersanov and Arsaliyev in France.

The court has sentenced Sultan Sigauri to 8.5 years in prison. Akhmad Khamidov and Valid Lurakhmayev are currently wanted around the world.
