In Moscow, member of Orekhovo-Medvedkovo gang gets 24 years in prison

A court has recognized the evidence collected by the Moscow Directorate of the Investigative Committee sufficient to convict 43-year-old Alexander Pustovalov. He was found guilty of 4 counts of crimes under items “a”, “h” and “m” of Article 102 of the RSFSR Criminal Code (aggravated willful homicide of more than two people committed out of mercenary motives by a group of people in conspiracy).

The court and investigators have established that a gang combining Oreckhovo and Medvedkovo gangs acted in Moscow in the early 1990s. Pustovalov was a member of the gang and murdered 6 people in the city of Moscow and in Moscow Region in 1995 and 1996. He committed the crimes by using both firearms and explosives. The gangs controlled businessmen and their businesses and extorted money from them for providing patronage.

The gang included more than 30 people, more than 11 of whom have been convicted since 2004.

The court has sentenced Pustovalov to 24 years to be served in a maximum-security correctional facility with the account of punishment given to him earlier.
