In Orenburg Region, investigators request arrest of girl kidnapping suspect

The Orenburg Region Office of the Investigative Committee continues investigating kidnapping of a girl (Part 2, items “a” and “e” of Article 126 of the RF Penal Code).

As became known earlier, investigators believe that about 3 PM, 17 January 2017, some unknown people forted a 12-year-old girl into a Russian car near number 2-/1 in Rodimtseva street in the town of Orenburg and took her in an unknown direction.

Thanks to investigative and search operations, active help of volunteers and the information they provided, the girl, the car and the kidnapper were located a few later hours near a dump. The girl had managed to send a text to her mother and talk to her for a short time and ask for help. The woman reported to the police immediately to mount a search.

At first there was information that there were two kidnappers, but later it turned out false. The suspect was found to have committed the crime alone. By now the suspect has been detained. It is a 29-year-old resident of Perm Territory, who has no previous convictions. He is temporarily living in Orenburg where he arrived in November to work in a commercial organization. He is single and doesn’t have children.

The investigators are going to check if the man has been involved in other similar crimes, including an assault on two girls in the settlement of Stepnoi, Orenburg Region. It is possible that the two crimes were committed by the same man.

At present, investigative and search operations are underway to find out all the circumstances surrounding the crime and the motive. The suspect is being checked for alcohol or drug intoxication. Necessary forensic examinations are going to be ordered soon, witnesses, the girl and the suspect are being questioned. The suspect is expecting a custodial restraint while the investigation is ongoing.
