Dead body found in missing boy investigation in Gatchina District, Leningrad Region

The Leningrad Region Office of the Investigative Committee is investigating a murder of a minor under Part 2, item “c” of Article 105 of the RF Penal Code after a 6-year-old boy has gone missing.

As became known earlier, on the morning of 7 January 2017, the boy went for a walk with his dog in the town of Kommunar, Gachina District, Leningrad Region and never came back.

Investigators considered different versions, one of which was an accident near the Izhora river as some witnesses had seen they boy and his dog walking along the river bank. Divers of the Ministry for Emergency Situations and Defense Ministry, as well as volunteers searched the river.

Today, forensic specialists of the Leningrad Region Office of the Investigative Committee have found the boy’s body in the Izhora river using a quadrocopter provided by volunteers. Investigative and search operations are ongoing to find out all the circumstances surrounding the incident. The river accident version is now being proved. A forensic medical examination of the boy’s body has been ordered to identify him and to find the exact cause of his death.

The investigation is being controlled by Chairman of the Investigative Committee.
