The Krasnoyarsk Territory Office of the Investigative Committee has opened an investigation in an attempted sosuicide solicitation of a girl under Article 110 of the RF Penal Code.

The preliminary investigation has established that on 5 February 2017, a 13-year-old girl, a seventh-grader, attempted to take her own life after she had received messages from as yet unidentified people in a social networking website that promoted suicidal behavior. The girl received medical aid and was saved.

At present, investigators are looking into all the circumstances surrounding the crime and are identifying people involved in it. In particular, they are checking the girl’s living and family conditions, her circle of friends and social media accounts.

Recently teenagers have more frequently fallen victims of so-called “groups of death” urging them to commit suicides. It is important to take all possible measures to prevent the spread of dangerous information in the first place. Employees of the Investigative Committee are monitoring mass and social media round the clock to avert the spread of information promotingdeviant behavior and soliciting suicides.
