In Saratov, suspects of unlawful deprivation and attempted rape of paramedic detained

The Saratov Region Office of the Investigative Committee has detained three suspects of crimes under part 2, item “a” of Article 127, Part 3 of Article 30 and Part 2, item “a” of Article 131 of the RF Penal Code.

By now the three men have been charged with the said crimes, Soon they are going to be placed in custody. Investigative operations are underway to find out all the circumstances of the incident. The Investigation is ongoing.

On the afternoon of 11 February 2017, the paramedic arrived to a flat in Shelkovichnaya Street in the town of Saratov to help a 41-year-old man complaining about high blood pressure. Besides the said man, there were four more men in the flat. After the paramedic entered the flat, the 44-year-old owner of the flat closed the door behind her and said that he wouldn’t let her out. The frightened paramedic went to a bathroom and managed to report the situation to a dispatcher of an ambulance service, who then passed the information to the police. The paramedic had to leave the bathroom when the men started threatening her with violence. Two of the men started trying to rape the woman and did not let her out the flat. The men’s actions were broken off by the police who promptly arrived at the scene. The woman was released, but she is still in deep shock.

Unfortunately, paramedics on duty have recently been frequently attacked in different regions. People of the most humane profession, doctors, who at any time hurry to help us, save lives of our loved ones, get attacked by persons who deserve to be described as no more than thugs. Weather it is a plane boor who doesn’t want to let an ambulance van pass, or a deliberate assault. Probe has recently been finished in St. Petersburg against a man charged with misconduct and death threats to an ambulance driver. In Vladimir Region, a patient attacked doctors who were trying to help him. The situation has gone so far that doctors, who protect us, now have to ask the state and public to protect them.

The Chairman of the Investigative Committee has demanded from his subordinates all over the country to respond toughly to each attack on doctors or attempts to impede their activities, to check each such report and if there are grounds enough to open investigations immediately. A doctor is a special person always treated with respect, but if someone lacks this respect, then the Investigative Committee will get the respect back by criminal procedural measures.
