The Komi Republic Office of the Investigative Committee has opened an investigation in negligence under Part 1 of Article 293 of the RF Penal Code after a snow mound fell on children from the roof of a day care center.

According to investigators, on 2 March 2017, a snow mound fell from the roof of a single-floor day care facility on a group of children coming back from a walk in the settlement of Verkhnyaya Maksakovka, Syktyvkar. Three of the children, aged 3, were taken to hospital with suspected head injuries.

Necessary investigative and procedural operations are underway to find out the reasons for and the circumstances surrounding the incident and to identify the guilty ones.
