The Moscow Directorate of the Investigative Committee has opened an investigation in breach of construction safety under part 2 of Article 216 of the RF Penal Code.

As was established, on the morning of 2 March 2017, a concrete construction collapsed during laying asphalt in a tunnel at kilometer mark 23 on Kaluzhskoye highway in Novaya Moskva. According to preliminary information, one person died in the incident, several more people were injured and are now getting all necessary medical aid.

At present, investigators and criminalists of the Moscow Directorate of the Investigative Committee together with rescue services keep on working at the scene. The investigators are collecting necessary documents regarding construction and operation of the said tunnel for a forensic construction examination, other investigative operations are also underway to find out all the reasons for and circumstances surrounding the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
